Keyword Research
There are 3 steps to this process:
- Find relevant phrases
- Think about what your targeted visitor would search for to find your product or service
- Use the Google Keyword Tool
- Cluster phrases
- Assign clusters to landing pages
Onsite Optimization
Four of the most important onsite factors are:
- Title Tags
- Internal Linking Structure
- Header Tags (h1 tag)
- Tags (on blog posts)
- Include 5-10 phrases from your cluster for that post as tags.
Offsite Optimization
Links are the most important aspect in ranking a web page in the search engines.
First of all, review what makes a link more valuable or of higher quality by reading What Defines a Quality Backlink?
When acquiring links, remember to use your keyword phrases from your clusters as the anchor text (the text that is hyperlinked) and to point the link to the URL (landing page) that you have assigned to that cluster.
Also, don’t just link to your homepage. You should have several clusters from your keyword research and, therefore, you should be linking to all the URL’s that you have assigned to those clusters. Your homepage should only be assigned to one cluster.
Next, learn four ways to get links:
- Article Writing and Submitting
- Press Release Distribution
- Directory Submissions
- We recommend submitting to the list found on info.vilesilencer.com. You can either submit to those directories yourself, or pay info.vilesilencer to do it for you which is what we do
- Guest Posting on Blogs in Your Industry
Tracking Results
To track search engine rankings for your keyword phrases use Rank Checker an addon for the firefox browser.
To track your traffic use Google Analytics
To track conversions for sales or leads, you need to setup Goal tracking within your Google Analytics account. Here is a great tutorial that I found about this topic:
- Setting up goals in Google Analytics
- Setting up goal funnels
- Tracking things that don’t have a distinct page view associated with them
- How to track the income from certain goals
